CHALET TOVEL – MOUNTAIN LAKE IS IN THE HEART OF THE ADAMELLO BRENTA NATURE PARK
The park is a conservation area in Trentino but, above all, it is the brown bear’s home. To avoid the extinction of the last three bears species left in the Alps, the Park, together with the province of Trento and the National Institute for the wild fauna, started a reintroduction project named “Life Ursus”. Today there are more than 50 bears in the Park.
Without any doubt the bear is the main animal attraction of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, which hosts the last bears of the Alps. The bear is the animal symbol of the wild and pristine environment and the Tovel Valley is just the perfect habitat for the survival of these species. The brown bear by nature lives at an altitude of 700 to 1800 metres. There is no danger for men: the bear is a solitary animal and the more than 50 bears currently present in Trentino region love the tranquillity. To satisfy your curiosity about the bear, we suggest you to visit the Bear Park Information Centre, in Spormaggiore, Non Valley. It is an interactive museum. Multimedia and video equipment, and life-size reconstructions distributed in six thematic rooms offer you the opportunity to learn while having fun. You will be able to follow its fingerprints, scratches on tree trunks and tufts of hair, observe its lair and also discover the secrets of the “long sleep” that characterizes its winter.
